BB64 - The Wisconsin Project

Our “Restore BB64” volunteers have been hard at work!  Throughout August and September,  our crew removed 60 teak deck pieces from the ship, transported them to Jeff and Karen O’Donnell’s house in Chesapeake, pressure-washed them, oiled them, and returned them back to Norfolk.  A sincere and incredibly grateful “Thank you!” is extended to all who were involved, particularly Kate Green, Toby Robillard, Jeff and Karen O’Donnell, Rick Shaw, Mike Schine, Jerry Boguess, John Berto, Scott and Jackie Wood, Brian Scheible, and Mike Lauruska. Also involved were six Chief Selectees and their Masterchief from the USS Fort Worth (LCS 3).

So what’s next?  The Wisconsin team is planning a Saturday morning cleaning session in early November. Because there is still much to do before all the Holiday visitors come aboard the ship, our team leaders are requesting all who are available to come aboard and spend four hours on a Saturday morning doing a thorough cleaning of the Pilot House. The crew often grabs lunch together afterwards in Downtown Norfolk, too, so it’s a great opportunity to spend some time out of the office with your fellow Valkyrie Warriors!  Stay tuned for details to go out via e-mail once a date has been pinned down!
