Please join us in congratulating Justin VerSchneider!

Justin joined the Valkyrie team over four years ago in March of 2009, as a part-time Junior Draftsman/Engineering Aide in the Marine Engineering Design Division. Still in high school and attending the Virginia Beach Advanced Technology Center (ATC) in their newly established Marine Engineering and Design curriculum, Justin worked 2-3 hours each afternoon to start. As an intern, he was exposed to as many different facets of the industry as possible.

During his employment here at Valkyrie, Justin has been mentored in the accomplishment of ship check/site checks (including climbing the mast of an Aircraft Carrier!), honing his skills in freehand/mechanical sketching, data collection/research, and development of detailed Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs), all necessary skills to support a career in the Marine Engineering and Design industry. He has provided drafting support for various programs including our Alteration Installation Team (AIT) installs (JPALS and N-UCAS), Army Watercraft Service Life Extension Program (SLEP), IP Modernization Shore Facility Upgrades, and numerous other special projects. He has been exposed to the Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (or HM&E as we call it) functional areas of marine design to provide him with a better understanding of the field and aid him in selecting a career path forward.

Based on this exposure, he has expressed an interest in the Hull/Structure side of the business and is currently pursuing an engineering degree in Civil/Structure engineering at Tidewater Community College.  Justin has established himself as a hard, dependable worker and a valuable part of the division and we are pleased to promote him to a full-time position as a Junior Designer.  Please join us in congratulating Justin!

Valkyrie Wins Engineering Design Services Contract!

Valkyrie was awarded a prime contract to provide Engineering Design Services for the Military Sealift Command (MSC) Engineering Directorate. The contract has a 12-month base period of performance, two one-year options, and a total contract value of approximately $3.5 million.

Covered under this contract are all five of MSC Engineering Directorate divisions (N71 (Maintenance Management), N72 (Technical Division), N73 (Policy and Regulatory Compliance), N74 (Fleet Recapitalization), and N75 (Field Activity)).  Valkyrie’s team will provide MSC with marine engineering, naval architecture, electrical and electronics engineering, maintenance engineering, shipboard testing and inspection and failure analysis services.  Some tasks will be large, class-wide, or even fleet-wide programs instituted to meet broad MSC objectives or direction and will include operational vessels as well as new ship acquisitions being introduced to the MSC fleet.

To support MSC’s Engineering Directorate’s diverse engineering needs, Valkyrie assembled a world class team.  Our Team Members include:
·         Computek, Inc. (http://www.e-computek.com/)
·         Miller Integrated Power and Controls (http://www.millerimg.com/mipc/)
·         Q.E.D Systems Inc. (http://www.qedsysinc.com/)
·         ScienceTomorrow, LLC (http://www.sciencetomorrow.biz)
·         The GBS Group (http://www.thegbsgroup.us/

“Congratulations to our entire team!  Valkyrie’s expertise in delivering engineering needs to the U. S. Navy is first-rate and we, along with our team, look forward to providing the MSC Engineering Directorate with outstanding and cost-efficient engineering solutions. We appreciate the confidence MSC has placed in us and, as always, we are honored to be able to support our Navy. Many thanks to all involved with this effort,” said Gary Lisota, President and CEO of Valkyrie.

Kudos to our Engineering Design team!!!

Valkyrie Named Among the World's Top Simulation and Training Companies

Valkyrie Enterprises has been named to Military Training Technology Magazine’s (MT2) 2013 list of Top Simulation & Training Companies.
MT2’s list features approximately 100 companies from around the world that have made a significant impact on the military training industry across the spectrum of technologies and services. These companies’ products and services allow U.S. airmen, Marines, sailors, soldiers and Coast Guardsmen to train and rehearse for missions in theater, or to prepare for deployment at home station.

In addition to making the list, Valkyrie was one of four companies that also earned a Yellow Ribbon, the distinction of being an “Up and Coming” company.

“This honor is particularly noteworthy when you take into consideration that two years ago, our Training Division did not exist,” Gary Lisota, Valkyrie Enterprises President and CEO said, “Our Training Division and our team members who are doing simulation work for the government have certainly made a mark and we appreciate all the great feedback we get from our customers. We are honored to have made the MT2 list and it is our hope to stay on it for years to come.”

Help us help a friend...

Please join us in supporting our dear friend, Donna Brooks Dehncke, in her quest to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America.  Donna and her husband, Rae, proudly support the organization's mission in memory of their daughter, Andrea.  Please read below for a message from Donna; and kindly consider walking with them during the Light the Night Walk on October 19, in Washington, DC, or making a charitable contribution.  Many thanks for your time and consideration!  ~The Valkyrie Team __________________________________

Dear Friends and Family,
This will be  our 10th year to participate in Light the Night, the annual fund raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Rae and  I are thankful for your support over these past years!  We do this in memory of my daughter, Andrea Brooks.  Andrea lost her battle with leukemia 9 years ago.  After our loss, we established our team, “Andrea’s Angels” to join in the fight for a cure.  We feel proud that our contribution to this effort is making a difference! The LLS is making fabulous progress with cures and treatments.   We continually miss Andrea, and feel this is the best way to honor her memory.

For the second year, our Savannah team will join the Northern Virginia team in Washington, DC.  We are very excited to participate in DC, and hope that the location will allow family and friends to join us.  The walk will be held on October 19, 2013, at Freedom  Plaza (13th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue).  Festivities begin at 5PM and the walk will commence at 7PM.  We look forward to an amazing event as Andrea’s Angels join hundreds of others strongly committed to the fight for a cure.  We would LOVE to have you join us!

If you haven’t completed your charitable donations for the year, we ask that you consider making a tax deductible donation in Andrea’s memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma  Society.  You may donate by inserting this  web site into your browser: http://pages.lightthenight.org/ga/Savannah13/andreasangels

If you have already completed your charitable donations for the year, then please remember Andrea in your thoughts and prayers.

As always, we truly appreciate your caring support,

Donna and Rae

Mark your calendars and join a team; be sure to bring your family and friends, too!   We hope to see you there!
